Nathan Amos on life, drugs and the music industry!
We at Primal have just bagged ourselves an exclusive interview with one of the UK’s biggest rising stars. Nathan tells us how the music industry is creating “fake music” and just cares about the money. He just says want he wants, and we at Primal like that.
Nathan, tell us, what’s it like being one of the top musicians in the world right now? Well, it’s okay really, could get better. I’m only really big in the UK and Europe, and the place I want to be in in America. That’s the Promised Land for me. That is why it’s just okay for me. Yeah I might be all over the f***ing world, in a different city and with a different women every night but I want it to get better. I NEED it to get better.
Well what’s stopping you from going to America? What’s stopping me? It’s all these so called musicians who make it big by using auto tune and computerised beats. They don’t even use guitars man! What’s stopping me is all of this fake music, and all the public seems to just eat it up. It pisses me off!
Who do you blame for this rise in “fake music”? I blame the music industry. It has gone down the sh***er the last 15 years because of their love of money. The industry should be about the music not the cash that comes with it. To be honest I think artists should be in charge of what goes on, not business men. If I were in charge the first thing I would do is get rid of the fake music.
Why would it be better if artists were in charge? Because we would make sure there would be an actual meaning to the music, not just talentless rich girls who got there daddies to buy them a studio and to release there so called music. What I want to here is music that tells the public something important, not what someone had for lunch or how drunk they got last Friday.
On another note, how do you feel about the downfall of David Grahams? I think it is a tragedy. This is what some drugs do to people, they destroy lives and careers. He was one of my idols as a kid and it has broken my heart to see him like this. I want to see him back to full health and see him happy again. But he needs a slap, as soon as he does he will be okay.
And what are your feelings on drugs? I don’t really like them. They f**k up lives! They don’t just harm the people who use them they harm the people around them. I’m talking about drugs such as cocaine and heroin, not cannabis. That doesn’t really hurt people as much as the hard stuff. Cannabis is like illegal inspiration. If it weren’t illegal there would be more bands like The Beatles.

Finally a question from one of your fans: who would you compare yourself to and why? I would compare myself to John Lennon. Why? Why not! He was a lyrical genius and so am I.
