Front Cover Original Photo

I chosen this photo for my front cover. I beleive that this sets the genre of the music magazine and the feel of it. It tells who ever who looks at it that this magazine is a alternative rock or a rock magazine. This is supported by what the model is wearing (leather jacket, black skinny jeans, sunglasses), also the hair fits in with the genre.

Although I like the lighting of this image, I think that its too bright for what I am wanting for my magazine. It is too natural. I want this image to be dark and cool. There needs to be no bright colours or light, just dark colours such as black and grey.

I used a technical camera for all my images and used natural lighting with this image. The natural light did make it brighter which is not what I wanted but I will edit it to be darker.

Also this image consetrates on the model himself as there isnt too much in the background but stairs and grass. This says to the reader that he has something to do with the main article in this issue.
I chose to take this photo outside while he sits on the stairs because I liked the look of him sitting there without a care. Also because there is not too much in the background that will take the reader away from him.

Contents Page Original Photo

I chose this for the contents page as I only wanted one image on the front cover and I think that it will go perfectly for one of my main features in this article. Also I like the lighting as it gives a warm feeling to it.

In this image no lighting was used but natural light which I thought was perfect for this image. It lights up the model's faces and give the image more depth. It again keeps the readers eyes on the models in the foreground not to the background.

As the light is mostly on one side of the models, it highlights the clothes aswell as the face. This again shows what genre of music this magazine is (jeans, checky shirt, hair). 

The reason that I used this location is that I liked the light, it was perfect for this picture and turned out the way I wanted it to be.

I chose this for my contents page as I liked the effect that the close up has on the contets page, as it gives the reader a little clue about what it could be about. His mood, facial expresion and whole look can give clue on the story inside.
I like this image as it shows the reader who the person is and his facial expresion. He is serious in this image so this means that the story inside will be on the serious side, but still could be about anything.
The lighting on this image was not natural like some of the other images, as the natural light would not have had the same effect as the controled light. I had on big light on the white screen behind him to his right and a smaller light to his left. This lights up the background and one side of his face. This may suggest that they might be two sides of this person.
The hair fits in with the genre of the magazine as alot music artits seem to have this hair style.

I used this image in my contents page also because I needed to show a band in the contents page, I felt like it was essential for this to be in the contents page.

I like the use of the natural light in the far right top corner as it lights up a bit of their faces and the background. This makes them darker and draws the readers eye as the dark and the light contrast with each other.

This is a more basic image as the band is only standing there with their backs to the sun. I like how it is simple because I didnt want too much to be happening at the same time and so the reader consentrates on the four people not the background. Also to help this I made sure that the group were in most of the photo showing their faces and their clothing.

I made sure I used this image for my double page spread beacuse I like the use of the cigerette being flicked towards the camera. Also I wanted this it to have the same model as the front cover to show that he is the main article of this page.
This was also created by using artificial lighting and I also used flash on my camera, this together made sure that I could catch the cigerette in mid air.
This again gives the feel of alternative rock music, not caring what people think, rock and roll sort of feeling. The stance of this person also gives this feeling.
I like the effect that the flicking cigerette at the camera does to this image. I think this makes the image and shows attitude towards whoever views it.
I think that it is an interesting image beacause it catches the cigerette over the models face but you can still see the expression on his face. These both put together say "I do not care what you say or do".
